As the term of the head of the Securities and Exchange Organization, Hojatollah Sedi, nears its end, efforts to keep him and to counter managerial changes have intensified in various ways; ranging from opposition to some decisions by the Minister of Economic Affairs, Ali Madani Zadeh, to attempts to discredit some of the managers appointed by him at the Securities and Exchange Organization.

In the meantime, claims have been raised about support by the First Vice President of the President, Mohammadreza Aref, for some of these actions; an issue that, if true, could indicate the emergence of a serious dispute among certain economic management streams within the government.
