An orange heat alert (the second-highest level of a weather warning) has been issued in 80 out of 96 French departments, the national weather service Meteo-France reported.

Temperatures in some parts of France are expected to reach 38 to 40 degrees Celsius (100-104 degrees Fahrenheit).
