BBC investigations show that increased police pressure by France on the coasts of the English Channel has forced human trafficking gangs to use larger boats and load more migrants. In one case, a 15-metre inflatable boat with 230 passengers made it to the UK, and in another case, a boat, after boarding passengers from the coasts of France five times, arrived in the UK with 82 people. French police say they now stop two-thirds of the boats before they reach shore. Meanwhile, the fee smugglers charge to transfer each migrant has risen from about €1,300 last year to €2,000. Despite a reduction in successful crossings, thousands of migrants still enter the UK illegally every month using small boats. In this regard, Aida Gajar, senior correspondent of IranWire, provided explanations about the English Channel, the human trafficking crisis in this channel, and the ineffective measures taken by the French and British governments.
