Britain’s inflation accelerated in July after a jump in energy bills, ending a brief period of calm for families under pressure in this country.

The UK’s National Statistics Office announced on Wednesday that consumer prices rose by 2.9% compared with the previous year; higher than 2.6% in June, the lowest figure in the past 15 months.

Meanwhile, producers have warned that unprecedented heat and drought in Britain and Europe are pushing up food prices.
