🔸A camera trap at the waterholes in the White Mountain no-hunting area has recorded an adult female leopard that the environment wardens of Damavand have named “Parizad.”

🔸This leopard has been clearly captured and identified for the first time, which suggests there may be suitable conditions for breeding in the population of this felid.

🔸Earlier, images of the presence of a male leopard, “Damavand,” were also published from the same area, and this simultaneity has led experts to express hope about an increase in the Iranian leopard population in this protected area.

🔸#Iranian_Leopard is among the endangered species in Iran; due to illegal hunting and the destruction of its habitat over the past years, its numbers have fallen sharply.

🔸In recent years, environmental activists have asked the Department of Environment to, by drafting a comprehensive plan for protecting this valuable species, help to also compensate for some of the losses caused by the leopard to domestic animals.
