The Canadian government has canceled at least 239 temporary resident visas because of the connections of their holders with senior officials of the Islamic Republic and government institutions of Iran.

According to figures released by the Canada Border Services Agency, about 17,800 visa applications have been assessed to determine whether applicants have ties to the Islamic Republic.
