CNN, in a report, has addressed serious disagreements at the highest levels of the U.S. government and the military about continuing the war with the Islamic Republic, and wrote that many senior U.S. officials have reached the conclusion that the available military options can no longer achieve the stated goals of the U.S. president.

According to the report, in recent weeks, General Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has privately told other senior members of the government that the United States should find a way to get out of the war, because further escalation of military operations could backfire.

CNN, citing three sources familiar with the matter whose names it has not disclosed, added that Caine shared this concern with officials such as John Ratcliffe, director of the CIA, Marco Rubio, the secretary of state, and JD Vance, the deputy president.
