The coalition of political forces in Iranian Kurdistan, by issuing a joint call, asked “all segments and strata of the people and the fighting and freedom-seeking nation” to launch a nationwide strike on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar, simultaneously with the fourth anniversary of the government killing of Mahsa Jina Amini and the start of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, by closing shops and bazaars and refraining from going to their workplaces.

The coalition wrote: “Despite the increase in public dissatisfaction and the activities of various movements, the regime continues its policy of killings and repression. The wave of arrests of political and social activists, defenders of women’s rights, activists in the fields of culture and the environment, as well as workers and teachers continues and is growing day by day. The issuance of harsh sentences and the unprecedented rise in executions, on the one hand, reflect the regime’s fear of the people’s will and, on the other, its insistence on the course of repression and violence.”

The coalition of political forces in Iranian Kurdistan described the strike of 25 Shahrivar as a “civil struggle and a collective response to security and economic crises,” and asked different segments of society and political and civil organizations to support this strike.

The signatories of the call emphasized that “the repressive and executionist regime in no way can prevent the path of our struggles.” ht
