Defendant in court: The landlord assaulted my wife; I killed him

The man who is accused of killing his landlord by shooting him with a gun claimed that the victim had been sending herwife obscene messages and had made her a sexual advance. The defendant said: “I told him to leave my life alone; he said, divorce your wife, I like her.” He claimed that after the fight, he fired a bullet and killed the victim. Then, to mislead the police, he left the victim’s car several kilometers away. Relatives of the victim requested retribution (qisas); however, the judge pointed to contradictions between the defendant’s and his wife’s statements regarding the claim of assault.
