— Ehud Barak, former Israeli prime minister, condemned Netanyahu’s tensions with Turkey after the strike on Syria’s Aboul Zhour airbase as “reckless and foolish,” saying: “Netanyahu has completely derailed.”
Barak argued that Turkey is not “Iran or Assad’s Syria,” and that disputes with Ankara can be managed through cautious diplomacy and coordination with Washington.
He accused Netanyahu of deliberately creating security tensions to stoke public unrest ahead of the elections, and said that the next steps should be awaited until after that, warning that further escalation could ultimately “come back at us like a boomerang.”
