Hosein Aghaei, a member of the editorial board of Iran International, said the Islamic Republic is seeing one of its most important levers slip away. According to him, the Strait of Hormuz is militarily open, but the movement of ships has not yet returned to pre-war conditions, and the economic pressure from the United States could further place Tehran in a position of weakness.

He believes that in these circumstances, the Islamic Republic has limited options between accepting negotiations and escalating tensions.
