🔻Human rights organizations said on Thursday that Israel’s attack on southern Lebanon, which earlier this year led to the killing of Amal Khleil, a Lebanese journalist, and the wounding of another journalist, appears to be an instance of a “war crime.”

The attack on April 22 (2 Ordibehesht) took place in the village of Al-Tayri and a few days after a ceasefire was announced between Israel and Hezbollah.

Amal Khleil, a 42-year-old journalist for the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, and Zainab Faraj, a freelance camerawoman, took shelter in a building after a vehicle was targeted by an Israeli attack in front of them.

According to reports, the building was also targeted. Zainab Faraj survived, but Lebanese officials accused Israel’s army of preventing aid groups from reaching Amal Khleil, while she was still alive.

On Thursday, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and a Lebanese legal group published the results of their separate investigations into the attack.

Human Rights Watch said the attacks “apparently involved intentional attacks against civilians and civilian targets, which could constitute a war crime.”
