Iran’s foreign minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, says that the previous routes through the Strait of Hormuz are no longer effective, and that Iran and Oman are working to create a temporary route that ultimately could become permanent:

“Routes that previously existed are no longer effective and we must define a new route. We are designing a temporary route that will ultimately become the final route.

This is a technical task carried out by specialists from both countries, and the armed forces are also involved in it, because they are the main experts in this field.

We will reach a result soon, but it is important to emphasize that these negotiations, regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, are two completely separate issues.”
