🔶 Iraqchi announced a “significant development” in negotiations with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz

Abbas Iraqchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, said on Tuesday, September 8 (Shahrivar 17) during a phone conversation with his Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi, that there has been a “significant development” in talks between Iran and Oman to “set a temporary route for transit in the Strait of Hormuz.”

Iraqchi attributed the current tension in the region to the “regrettable breach of U.S. commitments” within the framework of the Islamabad agreement, and said: “The solution is simple. The return of the American party and its adherence to its commitments and signature in the Islamabad agreement will provide the basis for a return to normal conditions.”

The subject of Iraqchi’s conversation with Japan’s foreign minister was described as “bilateral issues and the latest regional and international developments.”

Iraqchi also, while explaining the latest status of Iran–Oman negotiations regarding the Strait of Hormuz, reported a “significant development” in the two countries’ talks to determine a “temporary transit route” in this international waterway, and emphasized the “continued consultations between the two countries” to reach an agreement on the future management mechanisms of the Strait of Hormuz.
