Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on his X account that Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, has turned the agency into part of a chain that links technical reports to political justification and then to war.
Baghaei said that the agency’s reports have been turned into a tool for shaping threat narratives and creating political and legal grounds against a country, and as a result, the line between technical oversight and providing the groundwork for a military attack has become blurred.
He added that the agency’s credibility as an independent and impartial institution is being damaged and that it has played a role in “political preparation for an unlawful war.”
The spokesperson of the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that responsibility for military attack and war crimes should not rest only with those who issue orders or carry out the attacks, and that it also includes those who help establish the political and legal foundations or the documents used to justify such actions.
