Israel’s Kan public radio and television network reported that this country has so far not been satisfied with the progress of the Lebanese army in disarming Hezbollah in trial areas under this army’s operations in southern Lebanon.
The network, citing a senior U.S. official whose name was not disclosed, reported that Lebanese army officers have opposed the current situation in which Israeli army forces have withdrawn from southern Lebanon, because they fear Hezbollah, Tehran’s proxy group, will return to the area again.
The American official said: “We cooperate with both sides to reach an agreement in the future, but this process will take time.”
