🔸Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. representative to NATO, says Iran is seeking “to create chaos and impose costs,” and that NATO member countries should increase their capabilities to counter hybrid attacks and protect critical infrastructure.

🔸In an interview with Ray Ferlong, the senior international reporter for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, in response to a question about Iran’s hybrid threats in Europe, he said NATO has previously tracked missiles launched from Iran and used its capabilities in the Mediterranean and Turkey to protect the alliance’s territory.

🔸Whitaker said member countries should invest in increasing resilience and hardening their infrastructure, adding that the first step in a potential future conflict would not necessarily be the movement of military forces across borders, but could instead be a hybrid attack on critical infrastructure.

🔸The U.S. representative to NATO emphasized that the alliance must be prepared, alongside military defense capabilities, to respond to attacks on critical infrastructure.
