🔻Reuters news agency wrote in a report on Wednesday, September 9, that military experts believe that obtaining an American autonomous military submarine would give Iran the opportunity to examine the vessel and possibly use reverse engineering to support its military programs, similar to what happened in 2011 with the American Arquо-170 drone, which it took control of.

In the experts’ view, this is a setback for the Pentagon and the company that manufactures it, Anduril.

The vessel, known as Dive-LD, is an autonomous underwater vehicle designed for missions such as long-range reconnaissance, seabed mapping, countering naval mines, and inspecting underwater infrastructure, and is considered part of the new generation of uncrewed marine systems that can operate for several days without human involvement.

Although, according to Reuters, the United States and the company that makes this autonomous submarine have tried to portray Iran’s seizure of it as “not very significant,” in the past the United States has treated the loss of advanced equipment to Iran as a serious matter.
