🚨 Reuters reports Yemen’s Houthis have seized al-Perim (Meyun) island and taken control of the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Reuters also reported separately that the Houthis have reached Dhubab, a coastal city located in direct proximity to the strait. The Houthis now have almost full control of all Yemen’s coasts. Holding this island, along with its adjacent coastline, allows the Houthis to threaten passing ships with artillery and short-range weapons. Saudi Arabia is now moving more of its oil via an east-to-west pipeline toward the port of Yanbu in the Red Sea in order to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, but the Houthis have now also blocked this alternate route at its exit point.
