Russia will resort to necessary measures to ensure its security in response to the growing NATO presence in Finland, a source in the Russian Embassy in Helsinki stated.

“The so-called allies’ steps can hardly be considered other than as a clear confirmation of the North Atlantic Alliance's commitment to the further exploration of the territory of Finland,” the source stated in an interview with Russia’s Izvestia daily.

The Russian Embassy’s diplomat pointed out that the buildup of the alliance's military presence in Finland is clearly aimed at confrontation with Russia, serves as a destabilizing factor and contributes to the degradation of the situation in the Northern European region.
