Russian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces Vladimir Putin inspected the Varyag Guards guided-missile cruiser during the final stage of the Pacific Fleet exercises.
Putin visited the cruiser’s Museum of Military Glory, where he also left a commemorative entry in the ship’s log.
The Pacific Fleet began exercises on August 4 to defend Russia’s Far Eastern borders. More than 13,000 service members, about 60 ships, submarines and support vessels, around 30 aircraft and helicopters, and naval aviation unmanned systems are taking part in the drills in the Sea of Japan, the Sea of Okhotsk and the northwestern Pacific Ocean.
