South Korea’s foreign minister told his American counterpart that his country is ready to have a “practical partnership” in restoring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a statement by South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Choo Hyun raised this on Monday evening in a phone call with Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state, and suggested that consultations on the details continue.
According to the same statement, Choo also thanked Donald Trump, the U.S. president, for his “active leadership,” and his country’s efforts in dealing with the Middle East issue. Rubio also informed him about developments in the Middle East, including Iran, and the United States’ efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
