Statements by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Pashinyan:

Over the past two centuries, relations between Armenia and Russia have been shaped on the basis of an understanding that Russia is the guarantor of the security of the Armenian people and then the Republic of Armenia.

I have never doubted Russia’s commitment to carrying out this duty, but the events of 2021, 2022, and 2023 showed that, due to its own security problems, the Russian Federation sometimes faces significant limitations in performing this role.

We saw this in September 2022 and also in September 2023.

And this is where we are again confronted with this painful reality—that we have not taken lessons from our own history.
