〰 Syria’s Democratic Forces (SDF), led by Kurds, announced that they have completed the integration of their military, security, and civic institutions into the structure of the Syrian state, bringing to an end, in practice, more than a decade of Kurdish self-rule in northeast Syria.
Under the agreement, the former SDF forces and key infrastructure come under Damascus’s authority, while Kurds are granted greater formal recognition, including language and national rights.
With the withdrawal of foreign Kurdish fighters as well, Mazlum Abdi says that the next struggle will be to secure these rights in the Syrian constitution.
