🔻The Central Bank of the Netherlands has removed part of the country’s gold reserves from the United States and Canada and transferred them to London. In total, about 86 tons of gold have been moved; an action that the Netherlands says was carried out with the aim of being better prepared to deal with “severe crises.” The decision was made at a time when wars, geopolitical tensions, and trade disputes have increased concerns about security and access to national reserves. The Netherlands is not the only country that, in recent years, has changed where it keeps part of its gold reserves. France and Germany have also previously moved part of their gold reserves.
