The feature film “Bidad” directed by Saeih Bireghi, which had been made without obtaining a permit from government bodies, was fully released on this filmmaker’s YouTube page. The film, which focuses on the ban on women singing in Iran, had previously been met with sentences issued by the judiciary for its creators.

Mohammad Abedi, a film writer and critic, said that “Bidad” is a story about a transition away from reformism; where the main character, after trying to secure women’s right to sing through the path of law and negotiation, ultimately concludes that this path is not effective and that one must stand against the government.
