🔶 Trump signed two executive orders to restrict birthright citizenship

Donald Trump, the U.S. president, on Thursday, August 6 (15 Mordad), signed two executive orders in a new effort to restrict the right to citizenship based on birth on U.S. soil. This comes as the U.S. Supreme Court had previously rejected his earlier attempt.

After his failure in the Supreme Court on June 30 this year, Trump urged the U.S. Congress to take action, but in the end he has now signed two executive orders on the matter himself. These orders also restrict the rights of children who are born in the United States to parents who are employees of foreign governments, as well as the children of people who are classified as “enemy aliens.”

The Supreme Court had deemed his prior order unconstitutional, which targeted a broad range of illegal or temporary migrants. Trump’s two new executive orders are also expected to face legal challenges.
