🔸Two Chinese humanoid robots at the World Humanoid Robotics Championships in Beijing covered the 100-meter route faster than the world record of Usain Bolt, the famous Jamaican sprinter; a display that simultaneously highlighted China’s rapid progress in the robotics industry and the practical limitations of this technology.
🔸The “TianGong Ultra” robot, built by the Beijing Humanoid Robots Innovation Center, ran the 100 meters in 9 seconds and 39 hundredths on Saturday, 31 Mordad, and finished first in the preliminary round. The “Lightning” robot also placed second with a time of 9 seconds and 47 hundredths.
🔸The men’s 100-meter world record is held by Usain Bolt, who in 2009 in Berlin recorded a time of 9 seconds and 58 hundredths.
🔸However, images from the competition showed that high speed is still accompanied by control problems. After crossing the finish line, both robots failed to stop on time and collided with the thick mat that had been placed to control them. TianGong veered toward the side of the track, and Lightning, after falling, was taken out of the competition area on a stretcher.
