🔸 Two Democratic senators: to examine coordination with Iran for deporting detained refugees

The Associated Press says Richard Blumenthal and Adam Schiff, two Democratic senators in the United States, have called for access to all potential communications between two private migrant detention centers and Iranian diplomats.

The Associated Press wrote Tuesday, August 11, that the request was raised in the form of two letters, copies of which were provided to the news agency.

A group of Iranian refugees last month, by filing a complaint, claimed that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, by sharing details of their asylum application cases with the government of Iran, put their lives and safety at risk.

Based on court documents, the applicants said they were forced to meet with officials from the Iranian interests section; officials who had access to confidential information regarding their statements about persecution and harassment in Iran.

The cases the refugees raised to obtain asylum included their conversion to Christianity, their sexual orientation, or their participation in protests “Woman, Life, Freedom” against the Iranian government.
