U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported, in a video posted on the X social network, the sinking of the oil tanker “M/T Riesco” in the Gulf of Oman. CENTCOM said the tanker was targeted after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attempted to attack a U.S. warship.
CENTCOM also said that on Tuesday, 17 Shahrivar, it destroyed five Iranian oil tankers. According to this command, the action was carried out after two missile attacks by the IRGC on a U.S. vessel over the past two days. CENTCOM added that the warship escaped the attacks and continued patrolling in the waters of the region. No damage was done to any of the American forces in these attacks.
The “M/T Riesco” tanker was one of the five Iranian tankers that U.S. forces targeted on Tuesday, 17 Shahrivar.
