The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had received a report of an incident in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the report, the security officer of the company that owns the vessel stated that the ship was targeted by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The incident damaged the ship’s engine room and led to the death of one crew member.

The statement added that the other crew members are currently receiving assistance with help from the Oman Coast Guard, and so far, no environmental pollution has been reported.

The UKMTO also said that authorities are investigating the incident and has advised all vessels to transit the area with caution and report any suspicious activity. ✅
