🔶 Ukraine war; Germany’s arms pledge and Trump’s phone call with Putin

Boris Pistorius, Germany’s defense minister, pledged further assistance to Kyiv and said that the country would support Ukraine with a shipment of extensive armaments.

According to a Social Democratic Party politician, the aid would include, among other things, intercepting missiles PAC-2, which are urgently needed for the “Patriot” system, as well as additional numbers of AIM-9 missiles.

On Tuesday, September 8 (17 Shahrivar), during a video conference of the so-called “Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG),” Pistorius said that it should be expected that as temperatures drop, Russian air strikes would increase again. He urged Ukraine’s allies to also review their own stockpiles.

Pistorius said Russia’s efforts through combined attacks and intimidation would not work neither in Ukraine nor in Germany or other allied countries. He stressed: “On the contrary: Russia’s reckless and irresponsible behavior makes our determination to defend peace and freedom in Europe even more firm.”

The German defense minister announced that Ukraine will place an order for several thousand more IRIS-T guided missiles, with their cost to be covered through the European Union’s defense loan to Ukraine. This makes it possible to set up another production line.

According to Pistorius, in addition, Germany has supported the so-called “city dome” project to protect Ukrainian cities against drones and missiles and is financing the purchase of tens of thousands of long-range artillery shells through a British consortium.
