🔻UN General Assembly Day One with Trump’s Threatening Remarks About Iran

The UN General Assembly began its work in New York, and on the first day, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, delivered speeches at the session.

As expected, the U.S.-Iran war was one of the main topics of discussion on the first day.

In his speech, Donald Trump told UN members that he is facing a “major decision”: whether to reach an agreement with Iran and allow the country to rebuild, or to “destroy” it. Trump later confirmed that officials from the two countries met for three hours today; a meeting he described as “very constructive.”

Trump also spoke about the war in Ukraine and again claimed that the war with Russia is nearing its end. In another part of his remarks, he introduced artificial intelligence as “superintelligence,” called Cuba a “failed state,” and urged countries to leave the International Criminal Court, which he described as “anti-American.”

Later, Trump met with, for the first time, Andy Burnham, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The two sides discussed trade, Iran, Israel, and the Falkland Islands. After the meeting, both officials, at a press conference, presented a positive assessment of the talks. Trump told a BBC reporter that Burnham “understands the matter” and “knows what needs to be done.”

Trump’s latest bilateral meeting that day was with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine. At a joint press conference with Zelensky, Trump again said that Russia wants to continue the negotiations, but he did not specify when those negotiations would take place or whether Zelensky would attend or not.

At the same time, in the General Assembly hall, Emmanuel Macron said that Ukraine must be supported and defended “more than ever before.”
