US Central Command (CENTCOM), on Tuesday, 20 Mordad 1405, announced that American forces stopped a cargo ship flying a Panamanian flag while it was en route toward one of Iran’s ports in the Sea of Oman and disabled its navigation equipment. CENTCOM said in a statement that the “Vela Nova” ship intended to violate the US maritime blockade against Iran by moving toward an Iranian port. According to the statement, after the ship’s civilian crew did not heed repeated warnings, a US Navy helicopter fired two Hellfire missiles into the ship’s engine room.
