A U.S. State Department spokesperson said: “The United States is standing with the people of Lebanon and wants Lebanon to be a secure and independent country. To achieve this goal, Hezbollah must be disarmed.”

He added: “So far, Hezbollah has not been willing to hold talks with the Lebanese government, the United States, or Israel, because it takes its orders from Tehran.”
