The U.S. State Department announced on Thursday, 26 Shahrivar, that the United States, as part of its ongoing pressure campaign against the Islamic Republic, has targeted two entities and three individuals due to their roles in digital asset networks.

According to the statement, international digital asset exchanges, including the Central Bank, have enabled access to the international financial system for the Islamic Republic.

The U.S. State Department said the targeted network includes “BitBank,” a platform associated with Babak Zanjani. According to the ministry, the network was used to circumvent Zanjani’s sanctions to transfer financial resources to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The U.S. State Department added that Washington will continue its efforts to prevent the Islamic Republic and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from accessing resources used for “threatening the stability of the region, supporting terrorism, and undermining international security.”

The ministry also called on countries and companies active in the digital assets sector to be on guard against the misuse of the Islamic Republic and its facilitators and the enabling of such actions through their platforms.

These sanctions were imposed pursuant to Executive Order 13902 and aimed at Iran’s digital asset sector.
