The interim president of Venezuela called his meeting with President Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly historic.

Delcy Rodríguez wrote on the social media platform X: We had a historic meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, during which we discussed strengthening bilateral relations between our two countries.

She said the focus of the meeting was advancing a cooperation agenda in strategic areas, including energy, mining, and security.

This is the first in-person meeting between the highest-ranking Venezuelan official and the President of the United States, after the removal of Nicolás Maduro from power.
