📸 World Beer Day; a day to honor the oldest drink made by humankind

Every year, the first Friday of August (Mordad) is World Beer Day. For World Beer Day, there are three goals: getting together with friends and enjoying the taste of beer, honoring those responsible for making beer or serving it, and recognizing beers from different countries.

In the world, between 10 and 15 thousand types of beer are produced, and 177 billion liters of beer are consumed annually.

In 2025, the highest level of beer production in the world belonged to China, which produced 353.6 million hectoliters of beer. After that, the United States of America with 174.91 million hectoliters and Brazil with 151.1 million hectoliters ranked second and third, respectively. Germany also, with production of 79.24 million hectoliters of beer in 2022, was in sixth place in the world.

Archaeologists in Israel have discovered stone silos whose age dates back to about 13,000 years ago, and in which remnants of a type of fermentation process of a beverage similar to beer made from grains have been found.

In Iran as well, chemical evidence for the making of beer dates back to between 3,100 and 3,500 years before the Common Era.
