🗣 Your account of living conditions and the economic crisis — Tuesday, the third of Shahrivar:

🔹I’m sending a message from Shahrak Omid in Safadasht. The water in the housing complex has been cut from 4:00 p.m. on the second of Shahrivar until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. That means we didn’t have water for 18 hours.

🔹I’m sending a message from Sanandaj. Here, electricity is cut twice a day, for 2 hours each time—once in the morning and once at night. Every day as well, they cut off the water to different areas under the pretext of repairs.

🔹I’m sending a message from Khorramabad. For several years, young people in several provinces in the western part of the country—even those who are educated—have started growing opium poppy on hard-to-reach lands.

🔹In Tehran, gasoline is scarce and the queues at stations have become kilometer-long. We have to stay in line for hours.

🔹Half of the gasoline stations in Pakdasht don’t have fuel, and the rest are extremely crowded. They’re trying to get people to accept the increase in gasoline prices by force.

🔹We registered and paid the fees for the MBA and DBA programs at the University of Tehran, but after spending months of time and money, the course titles have changed with a directive! The change of titles after registration has affected the rights and standing of a large number of students and working people.

🔹Someone up there has apparently given this version that says what the people should do with a dollar above 200,000 toman—dollars whose impact is felt on the price of chickpeas all the way to rent, diapers, medicine, chicken and meat, clothing, and… and it has crushed the people. It seems they have stopped caring about the people.

🔹The cost of state-subsidized baby formula has been set at the same price as the free market price.
