🔺56 tankers are carrying oil in the Persian Gulf with silent transponders

▪ Tanker Trackers said a fleet of at least 56 tankers is carrying out covert ship-to-ship transfers of oil from Persian Gulf countries.

▪ Based on the company’s announcement, the vessels have been visually identified, but they operate in the “digital dark” to support oil exports from neighboring Arab countries of Iran.

▪ Tanker Trackers wrote that these vessels pass through the Strait of Hormuz in order to carry out covert ship-to-ship transfers in the Sea of Oman. Fujairah port in the UAE and Sohar in Oman are the two main points of these transfers.

▪ This method was previously exclusive to a shadow fleet associated with the Islamic Republic and Russia, but since Khordad it has become a common practice among commercial companies.
