According to information received by Iran International, the death sentence for Omeid Ghodarzvand Chagheini, 37, and one of those detained during the protests of 18 Dey in Qazvin, has been upheld by the appeals court. According to this information, Judge Davood Tashkiri has confirmed the sentence.

According to an informed source, the charge against Ghodarzvand Chagheini is “destruction of the entrance to the Qazvin governorate office.” In his defense, he said that he was only present at the scene and had no role in the destruction or arson.

Ghodarzvand Chagheini is being held in Qazvin’s Wood Prison. After his arrest, he was kept for 40 days in solitary confinement in the detention center of the IRGC Intelligence, and was tried without access to his chosen lawyer.

The source also said that Ghodarzvand Chagheini had previously been an employee of the Law Enforcement Force and had resigned from that force.
