ADNOC Gas is considering building new gas export facilities outside the Strait of Hormuz. Peter Fearnill, the company’s chief financial officer, said in an interview with Bloomberg Television that options on the eastern coasts of the UAE are being reviewed, but no final decision has been made.
This is Abu Dhabi’s latest step toward building infrastructure that bypasses the vital waterway of Hormuz; a waterway that has largely remained closed during the Iran war.
During the war, the UAE and other Gulf countries have both been targeted by direct attacks from the Islamic Republic and have borne its economic consequences.
The UAE is also building new pipelines and planning to expand ports that bypass the strait.
