Ahmad Arayiyanžad, the representative of Malayer in the Islamic Republic’s parliament, apologized for his remarks about the killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini.
He had previously used the phrase “to have reached the afterlife” regarding the death of the 22-year-old girl from Saqqez at the hands of the Guidance Patrol (Gasht-e Ershad) officers.
Ajmad Amini and Mozhgan Eftekhari, Mahsa Amini’s father and mother, had earlier written on Instagram in response to these remarks that he had insulted “our daughter, our family, and all the people of Kurdistan and Iran.”
Mahsa Amini was arrested on September 22, 2022, on the pretext of not observing the mandatory hijab, and was beaten. After several days in hospital, she died.
