An Iraqi news agency reported that Iraq’s foreign ministry summoned Mohammad Kazem Al-Saadi, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Baghdad, to provide explanations about the “publication of regional maps by some diplomatic missions of the Islamic Republic.”

The Iraqi foreign ministry said that Khaled Saeed, deputy foreign minister for multilateral affairs and legal matters, asked Al-Saadi to explain the publication of these maps and the statements accompanying them, which, according to Baghdad, “do not reflect the depth of relations between the two countries.” No details were provided in the statement about the contents of the maps.

During the meeting, Saeed emphasized the continuation of consultations and coordination regarding regional developments and their consequences, especially for Iraq. He called for resolving outstanding differences and issues through diplomacy and dialogue.

The two sides also discussed strengthening bilateral relations and expanding political, economic, and security cooperation. Al-Saadi also stressed Tehran’s readiness to continue cooperation and coordination with Baghdad in various fields.
