‌‌🔻Andy Burnham, the UK prime minister, says the country will provide «defensive support and air refueling» for this country in response to the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.

It is reported that this operation will likely begin in the coming days.

Mr. Burnham said that the move is made following Saudi Arabia’s request to receive «military support».

He added that, at the suggestion of Grant Shapps, the defense minister, and David Miliband, the UK foreign secretary, he approved the request.

According to the UK government, the timing of the plan is «limited» and, at least in the first stage, will last «several weeks».

The plan states that the Royal Air Force will help Saudi Arabian Air Force fighter jets in bringing down the Houthi missiles and drones.

In an interview with reporters traveling with him to the UN General Assembly in New York, Mr. Burnham linked the decision to the «pressure of the cost of living».

He said: «Saudi Arabia has experienced attacks and there is also the possibility of further disruptions. We need to keep these routes open.» 📷LightRocket via Getty
