Anita Anand, Canada’s foreign minister, announced that this country has imposed sanctions on five individuals and five entities due to their role in suppressing the Iranian people.

These sanctions target security and government officials of the Islamic Republic and entities involved in “digital repression.”

Alexander Momeni, Davood Mazyomi Gudarzi, Rasul Jalili, Mohsen Fathi Zadeh, and Ruhollah Momen Nasab have been sanctioned.

Satra, the Filtering Committee, Dauran Group, Farithar Pishteh Raian Computing Research Company, and the Seraj Virtual Space Organization have also been sanctioned.

The Canadian government said these individuals and entities played a role through digital surveillance, censorship, illegal violence, arbitrary detention, and intimidation in violating human rights and limiting fundamental freedoms. Anand said that Canada uses targeted sanctions to respond to the actions of the Islamic Republic.
