🔻Anwar Gargash: We will protect the UAE’s rights for freedom of navigation

Anwar Gargash, the senior adviser to the president of the UAE, after repeated attacks on the tankers of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), said that “Abu Dhabi will defend its sovereignty and interests.”

In a post on the social media platform X, Anwar Gargash wrote: “We will protect our rights for freedom of navigation and, at the same time, continue the path of dialogue and prioritize diplomatic options.”

Today, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company announced that one of its vessels was targeted in an attack yesterday while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

The UAE’s state news agency reported that no one was injured and that the situation is under control.

The incident is the third attack on the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s vessels in less than a week.

The UAE had previously blamed Iran for the previous attacks, but it has not yet issued an official position regarding the Friday attack.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Organization had also said that it had received a report that a bulk carrier on Friday in the Strait of Hormuz had collided with or been targeted by an unidentified object.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is one of the largest energy producers in the world, exporting its crude oil, natural gas, and refined products to global markets.
