🔻Bloomberg reported that Pakistan says Iran and the United States have come close to reaching a kind of “near agreement.”
According to Reuters, Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s defense minister, told Bloomberg that the signs from the past couple of days indicate that the two sides are nearing a “deal or arrangement” for establishing peace.
He said: “The situation is again taking shape in favor of a peace agreement or an agreement between the two sides.”
The news comes as Iran recently said that there is no ongoing negotiation with the United States, but messages are being exchanged through mediators.
At the same time, the official news agency IRNA has reported that Mohsen Naqvi, Pakistan’s interior minister, has traveled to Tehran to meet with officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Pakistan is the official mediator between Iran and the United States. Officials from Tehran and Islamabad have been meeting with one another one after another.
Last month, Iran’s interior minister, Eskandar Momeni, had traveled to Pakistan.
Pakistan has recently invited Iranian officials, including Abbas Araqchi, the foreign minister, to visit the country, but no date for the trip has yet been announced.
