Iran’s presidential information website has released a video of Masoud Pezeshkian’s remarks about a “meeting lasting 8–7 hours” with Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic.
Mr. Pezeshkian said that Mojtaba Khamenei is “completely healthy.” He said: “Someone who can discuss with us for seven to eight hours cannot be a person with problems.”
Since the announcement of Mojtaba Khamenei’s leadership, no sound or image of him has been released, and he has not appeared in public. The issue has sparked a great deal of speculation about him and his state of health.
He did not even appear at the funeral procession of his father, Ali Khamenei.
In addition, contradictory messages from senior officials about his activities have fueled speculation about his health and the extent of his influence behind the scenes.
Hamshahri, affiliated with Tehran Municipality, has announced that for security reasons, since Mojtaba Khamenei became leader, no audio file of him has been released.
Fatemeh Moghajerani, spokesperson for the Iranian government, in response to Masoud Pezeshkian’s remarks said that the meeting is a sign of “unity between the government and the establishment” and “further strengthening of the government.”
