Brazil’s presidential office, on Friday, announced a one-hour-and-twenty-minute phone conversation between Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Donald Trump through a statement on X, and said that the two sides exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and, in particular, the Iran crisis, and that “Trump presented his considerations and views regarding the outlook for resolving the dispute with Iran.”

According to the statement, Lula, while criticizing the “ineffectiveness of the United Nations Security Council” and calling for an emergency meeting to find diplomatic solutions, said: “I told Trump that big leaders are the ones who put an end to disputes.” The Brazilian president also emphasized the need to continue negotiations, maintain bilateral economic relations, and strengthen cooperation in the fight against organized crime.
